JASON Learning is a pioneer in providing curriculum and learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for K-12 students. With a sole mission to inspire and educate students everywhere through real science and exploration, JASON Learning wanted to explore a different approach to teaching.


Our client approached us to re-engineer and redesign their existing platform. JASON Learning has been in operation for over two decades, so it had a huge user base in place. The big challenge for us was to transform their big platform into something elegant and simple. A platform which conformed to modern design ethics and interactions.

UX process we followed

We started off with a series of meetings with the client where we tried to understand their mission, the market, their users and what they intend to achieve. These kickoff meetings helped us understand what are the mindsets and attitudes of our users. After a few brainstorming sessions, we were able to visualize user personas, which gave us clarity on who we are designing for. We continued this process for drafting user architecture and wireframes.

Visual design approach

We began with an approach that would help ease the whole workflow. We followed our design principles to keep the design minimal. We used our research for deciding upon the typography, font weights and colors to be used throughout the product. Here is a glimpse of our work-

Technology stack

JASON Learning was growing rapidly and the founding team needed a strategic partner to help them expand their reach to new schools. The legacy system was built on ASP.NET web forms and SQL server. They faced difficulties extending the system and with increasing number of users scaling was becoming a challenge as well.
We built the entire front end on ASP.Net MVC using RazorView engine which consumed Symphony Web APIs. The new app is built on bootstrap and is responsive on all mobile devices.

Iterative development with scrum

We followed the Scrum process where we took features which we planned to deliver in a 2-week Sprint. After every sprint, we gave a demo to the stakeholders and based on the feedback received, we iterated over functionality to make it more user-centric. The process was exhaustive and we were able to redesign complex workflows. Following agile software development processes, Quovantis was able to move swiftly through the migration, without causing JASON Learning a loss in their customer base.

Final outcome

JASON has a community of 3.5 million teachers and students. We redesigned their application from the ground up and with the new design, more teachers and students have started using the platform. The web application is easy and intuitive to use which motivates students to learn more. We rolled it out to few pilot schools initially and eventually moved the whole platform to all schools
